It's time for another featured blogger...
Elana's style is simultaneously classic and unique, filled with a mixture of jewel tones, earthy shades, and amazing thrifting finds. Elana was kind enough to to take the time to chat with me about style, blogging, Breaking Bad, and more!
lm: When and why did you decide to start your blog?
Elana: I've been reading fashion blogs for as long as I can remember, but never really had the time to do it myself. I always got the most inspiration from fashion bloggers and thought it seemed like such a fun hobby, so I finally starting doing outfit posts (on a blog I had written on occasionally) last summer when I had a lot of free time on my hands. Plus, it was the perfect way to combine my love of fashion and writing!
lm: What inspires your fashion choices--do you have favorite stores, magazines, bloggers, style icons?
Elana: I know every blogger says this, but it really IS other bloggers! I used to always look to celebrities, but now I get more inspiration from other girls around my age, with similar styles, and similar budgets. My favorite will always be The Clothes Horse. Of course, I still draw inspiration from other places. My favorite magazine is definitely Lula, and I love looking at stores like Madewell, Modcloth, and Anthropologie for inspiration as well.
lm: If you could travel anywhere in the world (a place you've never been) for one week, where would you go?
Elana: I've always wanted to go to anywhere in the U.K., I feel like I'd love it there!
lm: What are three of your current faves (recipes, songs, brands, authors, whatever!)?
Elana: Oh man, where do I begin! Well, I'm a huge TV nerd, and my two favorites are, and will always be, Breaking Bad and Arrested Development (my friends make fun of me for how much I talk about them.) Currently though, I've been watching a lot of X-Files. As for brand, I would say Dear Creatures. And the song I can't stop listening to right now is Lincoln Continental by The Felice Brothers.
lm: Finally, any tips for new (or established!) bloggers?
Elana: I can't say I'm an expert, but my biggest thing would be to get to know your followers. The blogs I go to consistently are the ones who have made an effort to answer comments and read the posts of their followers. It gets so easy to get caught up in wanting more traffic to your page, but the more real you are and the more you care about the people who take the time to read your blog, the more people will want to read. Also, stay true to your style! I love how different every style blogger is and the best ones are those who just wear what they love every day.
